Gail Ann “GG” Stemley R.I.P.

On February 14, 2020, the much-loved matriarch Gail Ann “GG” Stemley was laid to rest following a jazz funeral from the Rhodes funeral home.

The Big 6 Brass Band plus a pair of Mardi Gras Indians led the procession. The band played “Just a Closer Walk,” “Bye and Bye” and “Didn’t He Ramble” before a more up-tempo medley of modern brass band songs. As they “cut loose” the body, the band reverently closed the moving celebration of life with “Over in the Glory Land.”
